How do I factory reset my phone remotely?
our smartphone is your lifeline to your business when you're on the go. If you lose that smartphone, sensitive company data (and even personal data) could fall into unwanted hands. There are plenty of third-party apps and security systems that can help you to protect that data -- but sometimes, you simply must wipe the phone clean of anything that could bring about disaster to you personally or your company.
Thankfully, Google and Android have you covered, without having to install any third-party software. With KitKat, after a brief setup, you can visit the Android Device Manager (ADM) to either ring, lock, and erase. In this post, I'll demonstrate how to set this up and remotely erase a Verizon-branded HTC M8. Without a doubt, this is the easiest way to protect the data associated with your Google account and your business (should your phone be lost or stolen). Note: This is not a means to retrieve your phone from a thief (you should leave that up to the authorities).
Settings on your android phones:-
Go to Google Settings > Security > Android Device Manager. Look for Allow remote lock and erase and make sure it’s switched on.
The second toggle that needs to be enabled is also in the Android Device Manager screen: find Remotely Locate This Device, and make sure it's on. If these settings aren’t enabled, then Device Manager won’t be able to locate your device.
Now Start Erase your device from remote:-
On the presented map, you will be able to find where your device is located.
The location may be just approximate and not accurate in 100%. If the location is unavailable to find, you will see the last available location.
On the left side, you will be able to see the action that you can perform.
- Play sound- Rings your device at full volume for 5 minutes, even if it is set to silent or vibrate.
- Lock- Lock your device with your PIN, pattern or password. If your device hasn’t had any lock method, you will have a possibility to set one. You will be also able to add a message or phone number to the lock screen of your smartphone to help someone return your device to you.
- Erase all data- By using this feature, you are remotely able to delete all data stored on your phone (but may not erase SD cards). Remember, after the whole process of hard reset the Find My Device won’t work on the phone. Keep in mind that if you will find your smartphone after factory reset operation, you will need your Google Account password to activate it.
