MTK IMEI Patcher for Redmi Note 8 Pro

Hello friends, today we will fix the IMEI of the Redmi Note 8 Pro. For this, we will need a command-line tool, the link to which I will share in the middle of this post. Many users, due to not finding the correct solution, try to fix it with some free tools, but their problem tends to get worse instead of being resolved. In this situation, I will guide you through a tool and all the steps to fix this issue easily.

Overview

This script recreates the NVRAM partition and makes a private TWRP flashable for your phone.

Usage Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Configurations:

    • Fill in your values in the config.txt file.
    • Run mtk_imei.cmd. This will generate a flashable imei_repair.zip file in the out folder.
  2. Backup Partitions:

    • Backup the NVRAM and NVDATA partitions.
  3. Flash the Repair File:

    • Flash imei_repair.zip in TWRP.
    • Reboot your phone.

Uninstall Instructions

  1. Restore Partitions:

    • Restore the NVRAM and NVDATA partitions from the backup.
  2. Clean Up Vendor Partition:

    • Mount the Vendor partition.
    • Delete /vendor/etc/init/md_patcher.rc and /vendor/lib/modules/md_patcher.ko files.

Notes

  • The flashable supports all 4.14 kernels (both stock and OSS). You will need to flash it every time you wipe your Vendor partition.
  • It includes a prebuilt md_patcher.ko kernel module. Kernel maintainers should not include it in their kernels as it works as an external loadable module only.

Prerequisites

Follow these steps carefully, and you should be able to fix the IMEI on your Redmi Note 8 Pro without any issues.
