Qualcomm EFS NV Tool Android App Free Download [Without Diag]

The first tool that can directly access the EFS folder and allow read/write operations on NV (Non-Volatile) items for commercial mobile devices is qualcomm_efs_nv_tool. With this tool, Qualcomm device diagnostics and modifications have advanced significantly.

Previously, accessing the EFS folder required Qualcomm's official tool QPST, while reading and writing NV items was only possible using QXDM.

  • QPST versions available online require USB diag mode and are limited to Windows systems.
  • QXDM has even stricter requirements, needing an official Qualcomm license and similar dependencies on USB diag mode and Windows OS.

qualcomm_efs_nv_tool is a game-changer for those who are working with Qualcomm-based devices because it allows users to work about such constraints and obtain direct access to necessary NV items.

Working Principle

The qualcomm_efs_nv_tool operates by extracting data from Qualcomm's diag device, following the same fundamental principles as existing tools used for capturing cellular network logs, such as:

  • qcsuper
  • mobileinsight
  • scat

This approach allows the tool to function without relying on Qualcomm's proprietary software, enabling a broader range of capabilities in device diagnostics and NV item manipulation.

Compatibility

The tool's compatibility largely depends on the Qualcomm chipset and the underlying Linux kernel version.

Supported Devices & Chipsets

Pre-Snapdragon 888 Chips

  • Snapdragon 765 and earlier generally run on Linux kernel 4.19 or earlier.
  • Examples: Xiaomi 10 Youth Edition (Snapdragon 765)

Snapdragon 888 & Later Chips

  • Snapdragon 888 introduced a major change by adopting Linux kernel 5.4.61 (Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 uses 5.12).
  • This update led to the removal of the /dev/diag device, causing many existing tools like qcsuper, mobileinsight, and scat to become non-functional.
  • qualcomm_efs_nv_tool overcomes this limitation and successfully runs on Snapdragon 888 and later.
  • Example: OnePlus 9 (Snapdragon 888)

Supported Android Versions

  • All tested devices currently run Android 11.

  • Future updates will extend compatibility to more devices and Android versions.
